How we work.

Every project moves through the same four movements. They are slow on purpose. A house is a once-in-a-life thing, and we would rather get the start right than rush to a drawing.

Read the light

We spend time on your site, in your existing rooms, through different hours. We learn where the sun lands and where it never does, what you want to keep and what is holding the place back. Only then do we talk about a brief.

Set the plan to the sun

We place the rooms you live in most against the best light, and arrange everything else around that. This is the decision the whole house rests on, so we take our time and we draw it many ways.

Choose materials that age well

We pick a small palette of honest materials and detail them carefully. We make samples, build models and mock things up at full size so you can stand in the choice before it is built.

Build it together

We tender to builders we trust, then stay on site through construction. We protect the detail and the budget, and we hand you a building that does exactly what we drew.

Start with a walk through your site.

The first conversation is on your site, at no cost and no obligation. We will tell you honestly whether we are the right studio for the work.
