A small studio, on purpose.
Aught is four people and a workshop in Collingwood. We keep the studio small so the people who meet you at the first conversation are the people drawing your house at the end. We take on a few projects a year and give each one the room it needs.
We start with the light
Before a plan, before a single wall, we learn how the sun crosses your site through a full season. The building follows from that.
We build to last
We choose materials that earn their keep and age honestly. A house should be better to live in at thirty years than at three.
We stay close to the work
We are on site most weeks. The detail you discussed in the studio is the detail that gets built, because the same hands hold it the whole way.
The people.
